We are trying to do away with Pagemaker and classic altogether. We would like to start opening all Pagemaker documents into InDesign. The problem is that the tracking values between the 2 applications is not the same. This causes text to reflow. Not so much a problem if you are dealing with one page, but when it is a 100+ page magazine, this does not work. Is there a way to get the tracking tables to match from a customer supplied Pagemaker document when opened into InDesign?
Thanks for any help

Not really - the problem is that PM docs are set to a target output device (printer), making it device dependent. This means that opening a PM doc even in PM (much less ID)installed on another machine with a different default printer often meant there were changes in tracking. Also, the way the line/paragraph composer works in ID is totally different to PM, which also changes tracking values. So i don't think there is any way round the change in tracking encountered when opening a PM doc in ID.
