I just built a new computer the other day.

MSI Neo2-FIS2R motherboard
P4 2.4GHZ FSB 800 processor

I bought a brand new Western Digital 120gb HD with the 8mb Cache and am trying to install it as my master and my old HD, a IBM Deskstar 75GXP, as the slave. No matter what jumper settings I try to use (I've used close to every combination available) my primary drive will not be detected unless I totally remove the IBM drive from the system. I've heard something about WD drives having problems with setups not containing two WD drives but I don't know how much truth there is to that. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Most WD drives have a setting to act as Master with a Slave Drive present, which is a different setting than Master (Single). Might double-check that. Also, there are several different jumper settings on the IBM drives. As I recall, slave is the two farthest to the right (double-check me there).
