master page templates causes freeze-up

When dragging a master page template in Quark 4.1 onto a document Quark freezes up. Sometimes dragging the template works other times it freezes up. Anyone know of this problem and what can be done to solve it? Thanks.

Hi Bloomschool,

Well one reason of this could be damaged XPress Preferences file. You can try deleting/moving the XPress Preferences file from QuarkXPress folder. When you launch QuarkXPress again a new XPress Preferences file will be created in the QuarkXPress Folder.

You could also check for corrupted Fonts or Pictures used in your Master Pages

quarkxpress freezes either the qxp was not able to read some data or there was an error while reading the data. so what u can do is isolate what is causing the problem.

well u can go about is see if there is any font in ur document corrupted.for this check all the fonts used in ur document. double click and try to open them from the system folder. re-install any, if required.

simmilarly check the image files. try resaving all the images or the logo's used from their native application and re-importing back into the document.(even re-create the picture boxes for this).

also try resave/duplicating the master document into a new document using the thumbnail feature...

re-creating the preference file(don't delete the earlier one just rename or paste it in other folder).

need to check out the dimensions of the new page onto which u are dropping ur master page

go for a backed-up file.(remember always t o have ur auto-backup feature on...saves a lot of time!!)
