Master Page Problem

When I create my document, and place in the text for, say, 200 pages. I then set up my master pages for chapter openers etc. These chapter opener master pages have a text box which starts half way down the page.
When I apply the Master page to my Document page, everything look as it should, except it hasn't used the master page text box, it is still using the previous text box
Any thoughts???

I am not clear on what you are asking. Are you saying that you are placing an empty text frame on the master page, and applying that master to the first page of a chapter and expecting the text already on that page in the document to populate the text frame from the master page?

If so, it doesn't work that way, and I would think you are mking itmore complicated than you would need to. Simply resize the text frame in the document on those pages.

Yes, That's what I'm trying to do, I guess because I can do that in Quark I expexted to be able to do it in InDesign...

ID handles text frames a little differently than Quark, as you are finding out.
