I am setting up a master page in InDesign. I then go to Page 1 which has my master page applied to it. I want to edit the heading for each separate page, as well as use the text boxes that I have positioned on the master page. It is not letting me edit them. Is this not possible?

I can get around it by copying from the master and then pasting-in-place on pg 1, however if I want to adjust the position in the future, I would have to adjust it on each page.

...right click the page or selected multiple pages and select 'override all master page items'...

...this is also available via the flyout menu of the pages palette...

Also, if you don't want to override ALL items on the page (perhaps just one text frame), Command-Shift (or Ctrl-Shift on a PC) click on the item you want to override. The great thing is, if all you're doing is making text changes on a particular page, when you move the item on the master page, the position will move on each page. By using the override feature, the item retains master page settings for any attribute you DON'T override on the document page.
