Master Detail problem in Power Play / Transformer 1

Hi,

I have started playing around with Transformer and Power Play. I have 2 iqds which is supposed to have a master-detail relationship.

The first IQD has these columns:
Patient ID
Patient Diagnosis
Patient Count (this is a measure)

The second IDQ has these:
Patient ID
Wound ID
Wound Diagnosis
Wound Count (this is a measure)

When i create the cube and view it in Power Play, I try to view the the Wound Count for a specific Patient Diagnosis. I end up getting the same wound counts for all the Patient Diagnosis.

Can anyone please let me know if this is something that can be done through modelling in transformer or if my data structure needs to be tweaked... Its a basic master-detail scenario which im sure someone has had to deal with..

TIA

Tsuable,
Your result is due to the fact that there is no correspondance (link) between Patient diagnosis and Wound other than at the patient ID level , so Powerplay cannot break the wound count. You would be able to solve it if you can create a correspondance between would diagnosis and patient diagnosis, for example.
The 'show scope' choice under 'Edit' can help you determine what measures are out of scope (i.e. cannot be allocated) for the dimensions.

Thank you for your help. I just would like to make sure that my understanding of a correspondence is correct...

Do you suggest i create a convergence level? If not, can you elaborate more on your suggestion of creating a link between the 2 iqd...

thanks

Thanks for the star.

I see two ways of solving the problem - you can either incorporate a third iqd which relates Diagnosis to Wound or amend one of the two iqds.

The problem with the first way is that Transformer would require uniqueness in order to create the inter-relationships between the data sources. It would seem to me better if you could include Patient Diagnosis into the second iqd so as to give you the scope required.

As an observation, if you are counting unique items, counts are best done as category counts rather than as a unit per row read from a data source. Your first iqd looks to have a diagnosis count, rather than a patient count, should a patient have more than one diagnosis.

Category counts do increase build times, though.
