Hi,

I have exceed users logging to my sybase server, unfortunately that I can not log in as 'sa' either to kill some of these "users". I have to reboot the sybase.

I know that it won't be good to do so, but I have no choice, and now, after killing the process RUN_xxx. I restart it, but I have the error message of:
"basis_dlock: file '/ABC/sybase/master/master.dat' already in use by a SQL Server"
"kdconfig: unable to read primary master device"
"kiconfig: read of config block failed"

Could someone help me to bring the sybase back? Should I reboot the server too? or even after rebooting the box, will it not release the master.dat either?

Thanks

It appears that you have not shutdown sql server properly. Do a ps -ef|grep sybase and look for dataserver. Kill those processes (if any) from O/S level and try restarting sybase server. Try this first. Otherwise look for ${SERVER_NAME}.krg file. It is normally under the same directory as {SERVER_NAME}.cfg. If exists delete it the krg file and start sybase again. If all fails send the output of sybase log file.

good luck

Thanks sybaseguru,

Yes, I know I did a bad action, but I have no choice, and it is what I am afraid of. I finally have to reboot the whole box to bring up back everything.

will try your method next time.
Thanks
