Master/Child link not automatically entered???

Hi. I've done this before, successfully. Now, I can't solve this...the data that links a form to its subform is not automatically entered into records in the subform...

My form is "frmDeposits"
My subform is "frmDepositDetails Subform"

Source Object.......  frmDepositDetails Subform
Link Child Fields...  DepositNumber
Link Master Fields..  DepositNumber

There is a text box control in both form and subform with "DepositNumber".

In the main form "DepositNumber" is not enabled, is locked, no tab stop.

In the subform "frmDepositDetails Subform" is not enabled, is locked, no tab stop.

When trying to enter data in subform records, "Beep!"; I'm told to enter a value in "DepositNumber".

Any idea why? Your help, as always, is much appreciated.
