I have an existing peer-to-peer network with 2 XP Pro workstations. The connections and browsing between the two have worked perfectly.
Recently added a wireless notebook and a another wired workstation. Neither can browse the workgroup through My Network Places. The workgroup is listed, but attempted to view it results with the following error: "A list of servers for the workgroup is currently unavailable." The computers located inside the workgroup can be accessed directly using their netbios name or IP address, however.
What I've done to address the problem, without success:
[ul disk]
[li]From the command line, Net View gives the same error msg[/li]
[li]moved all computers over to another [newly created] workgroup[/li]
[li]made sure netbios over TCP/IP is enabled on all machines[/li]
[li]disabled firewalls[/li]
[/ul]
This seems like a browser service issue to me. Yes that service is started on all machines. We logged everyone off/on to force a MB election, but that didn't seem to do anything. I know it takes up to 15 minutes to update a browse list, but the new workgroup showed up immediately, we just can't bring up a list of the workgroup members.
Any ideas?
