Mass mailing customized emails

Hi,
if this post in inappropriate here pls excuse me.

I have some emails and names in spreadsheet. I'm looking for a way to send a mail to all the entries in the list. I want the mail to be customized. That is, in the mail content i want for example dear <name>.... where <name> correspond to the names in the spreadsheet.

Please advise me.
I have Linux running.

I've downloaded the 1.94.5 source distribution but it's talking about compiling it. Bah, I don't know anything about compiling !!!

Any more suggestions...

What you are trying to do is not for the faint of heart and if you have never compiled from source this may be a little too tough to do.
Compiling is usually done by running ./make then compiling.
Untar the majordomo tarball, look for the Makefile and the readme file. Make sure you have PERL installed and you have all the necessary libraries. Check your permissions and re-read the readme.
