We are having two issues:

I am unable to get the MAS90 to work on a terminal server unless I grant the users Administrator Privs. Any tweaks / configuration parmaters I should look at?

Second issue.. It only will start MAS90 for one session. Any other session will get the famus "Launcher already started" error. Any ideas how to fool the launcher to think each user can have its' own connection via the terminal server?

Two things. Have you worked with your reseller on this? Have you read all the documentation from Sage on how to install and run MAS on a terminal server?

The reseller is useless. He has been unable to assist in the most simple issues. They hired me to come in to resolve this. I don't have access to the Sage documentation. Thanks

How to run Sage MAS 200 and Sage MAS 90 on Terminal Services and/or Citrix MetaFrame (TS/Citrix)

Possible Resolution:

Note: The Sage MAS 90 and 200 versions listed below do not necessarily reflect current supported versions (generally the current major version and one version back). The versions listed below were left as-is for historic purposes.

* See Appendix section "Running in a Terminal Server Environment" of the Sage MAS 200 Installation Guide for information on setting up and using Sage MAS 200 with Terminal Services or Citrix MetaFrame.

* See the Supported Platform Matrix, available on Sage Software Online, for additional information on specific supportability issues, service pack requirements, and supported operating systems.
Note: If any information in the Supported Platform Matrix differs from this document, the Supported Platform Matrix takes precedence.

* Symantec does not support WinFax Pro in a TS/Citrix environment. Do not use TS/Citrix if batch faxing graphical forms is a requirement.

* Sage MAS 200 and Sage MAS 90 are supported with TS/Citrix under the following conditions:
o Only the following platforms are supported with with Sage MAS 90 and Sage MAS 200. Citrix WinFrame or WinView are not supported.
+ Windows 2000 Terminal Services
+ Citrix MetaFrame
+ Citrix MetaFrame XP
Note: Only Sage MAS 90 and 200 3.61 or higher are supported with Citrix MetaFrame XP.
o TS/Citrix must be installed on a Windows 2000 Server or Windows Server 2003. Windows NT 4 Terminal Server is not supported
Note: Only Sage MAS 90 and 200 3.70 or higher are supported with Windows Server 2003.
o TS/Citrix must be installed on a different server than the Sage MAS 200 server. Installing Terminal Services or Citrix MetaFrame on the same server as Sage MAS 200 is not supported.
o Sage MAS 90 can be installed on the same server as TS/Citrix or on a separate server.

Subject:
How to print to a local printer when running Terminal Services on Sage MAS 90, Sage MAS 200, or Sage BusinessWorks.

Possible Resolution:
Set up the local printer so that the terminal server can print to it.

Note: Sage Software Customer Support is not responsible for assisting in this task. If necessary, seek the assistance of a qualified computer technician.

1. Configure the local printer as a shared printer in Windows.
2. Create a printer at the terminal server that connects to the shared printer.

Notes:

* The service 'File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks' must be installed in Network Neighborhood.
* This article applies to Windows Terminal Services only. Citrix provides a solution for printing to local printers.
* See Microsoft Article Q306566 for detailed information on setting up printers for Terminal Services
* Redirected printing may fail on Windows 2000 if Service Pack 3 (SP3) is installed. See Microsoft Article Q328020 for details.

Note: Workstation Setup must be run from within a Terminal Services (TS) or Citrix session. The system will detect the session and automatically copy Activate.pvx from the server to the ..\Mas90\Home\Lib\Keys folder on the TS/Citrix server.
Note: If any changes are made to the User License, either rerun Workstation Setup through the TS/Citrix session again, or manually copy Activate.pvx from the server (see workaround below for instructions).

Subject:
Error "1 user limit exceeded, No valid activation found", when starting up Sage MAS 200 through Terminal Services or Citrix, from more than one workstation.
Note: This issue can also occur with TimeKeeper. See workaround below specific to TimeKeeper.

Note: For information on setting Sage MAS 200 up on Terminal Services or Citrix MetaFrame, see Appendix C "Running in a Terminal Server Environment", of the Sage MAS 200 Installation Guide. Also see the Supported Platform Matrix for supported configurations (Available on Sage Software Online).

Steps to Duplicate:

1. Set up and start Sage MAS 200 through Windows 2000 Terminal Services (TS), or through Citrix MetaFrame.
2. Start up a second Sage MAS 200 session on a different workstation through Terminal Services or Citrix MetaFrame.
3. Error "1 user limit exceeded" will occur at the second workstation.

Possible Workarounds:

1. Copy ACTIVATE.PVX from the Sage MAS 200 server's ..\Mas90\Home\Lib\Keys directory to the directory where Workstation Setup was installed on the TS/Citrix server. (Usually C:\Program Files\Best\90cs\Mas90\Home\Lib\Keys\)
2. If the error is occurring in TimeKeeper, also copy ACTIVATE.PVX to the Terminal Services/Citrix server's ...\timekeeper\lib\keys directory, where ..\timekeeper\lib\keys represents the timekeeper local workstation install directory.

Since you read, write and delete when running an accounting program you have to grant Admin rights to the user. Anal IT guys HATE this with a purple passion but it is the way MAS has to be run.
