How do I backup MAS 90 in case of a system failure?

Is there a backup utility or do I just copy the files from the disk?

Then after backup, how do i restore?

The version is 3.71

Backup the entire mas90 and all subfolders.

If something happens you can restore the entire directory.

Just copy it and then paste it if I need to restore?

If you put it back in the same place the shortcut was expecting it, then yes it will work.

IS there a good program that will do this on a schedule?

How are you guys scheduling it?

I would think you'd include the full directory onto your backup tape then take your tapes offsite on a rotation.

Well we were doing that but the tapes kept getting more expensive and the tape drive recently broke. Right now we are using an external hard drive to back up to. The software it uses does back up on a schedule but it only copies and does not overwrite the old backups so that the drive fills up. I am looking for a more efficient way.

Actually this is what you want. My suggestion is that is you can at least save 5 works days on one external then get three. One for last week, one being filled and one blank.

Here I wrote a few simple batch files which copy our critical company files such as mas90 from the file servers to a different day directory on a seperate archive workstation for Monday through Thursday. Friday a batch file does a complete backup of the main file server to the archive workstation. Saturday a batch file copies the Thursday backup across our VPN to a remote location in one of our retail stores. Sunday the retail stores exchange Saturday backups across our VPN as well as run their daily backup to their local archival workstation. We loose at worst a weeks data for one location if any of our locations burns to the ground. Each location has a nightly backup which remains resident in case of less catastrophic problems. Our archive workstations uses drive mirroring as do our file servers to further minimize exposure to risk of data loss.
