Hi,
We recently purchased the latest version of mas90 which is compatible with windows Xp pro
We also bought 2 new top of the line pc's
after all the installing etc. and a week of running it the users find it as slow as on the old systems
We have connected the pc's over a wireless network
which will probably have to be sacrificed for a wired network.
When mas90 is installed it takes about 400/500mb Space...
but our db's make the total size over 4.5GB big...
we have used mas90 for about 10 years so there is alot of data there...
Is there anyway to speed things up or what do we do about the massive DB?
Due to the size of the DB it takes a while to load anything over a wireless network.
Is there anyway we can create a new DB with the old settings, clients, etc.
so that it would have a fresh DB to start with and cut down the loading time.

Kind regards
Randhier Ramharakh

MAS200 would be faster since most processing would be on the server instead of the workstations. It would be faster wireless too EXCEPT for Crystal Printing which is still a bottleneck.

You really want to be running this product on a wireless network? Wireless is notorious for frequently dropping connections, even when tweaked properly. I do not see speed gains. I saw a brand new wireless g adapter and router the other day, I got 5mbps and a dropped connection every 7 minutes. After 2 hours on the phone with Linksys, I was able to get the connection to stick for 15 minutes. Way to go Linksys!!! I sure saw that 54mbps out of the box!!! By the way the devices were 1 foot apart, direct line of sight, I don't see how Wireless is so popular.

The way most accounting softwares are driven, MAS90 included, power and network outages greatly affect your data's integrity. Don't risk it because Wireless was fun to do. Drop the cables and get it stabilized.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
