Hello all,

Im having a error pop-up when a user is launches the MAS 90(accounting software) shortcut from there desktop on the Terminal Server.

The error reads:

The launcher is already is use by another workstation (T112)session: 2

So basically its only allowing 1 user access it at a time.

We have a strange setup, the mas 90 application is run on the fileserver (windows 2000) which use to connect to a terminal server (windows 2000) and work fine.

but now we connect to the 2003 terminal server which connects to the 2000 file server, and somehow limits it to 1 user at a time

if you map a drive and run the software from a desktop (no terminal) it can support however many users as needed.

I have installed the 20 TS CALS and activated the licensing server. All of the active directory permissions and groups are pretty much the same as in our 2000 setup.

Anyone have any ideas ?

Is this exactly the same version of the software that you were using on Terminal Services 2000? I've seen where a newer version of software suddenly isn't compatible with Terminal Services (QuickBooks, from the 2004 version on, can't be installed on Terminal Services unless you live in the US).

Did you check with MAS 90's tech support or on their web site to see if the app is compatible with Terminal Services 2003?

Did you install the app on the Terminal Server while you were in "install" mode?

Cheers.

The first time, i did'nt install it in install mode.

So I uninstalled and put it into install mode, it did say that it was currently in install mode for this session.

Same thing happened, the app is currently working on windows 2003 server its just limiting it to 1 session at a time.

I've seen that this error occurs when people have the same computer name or when the software is not activated.

However i do have it activated and the hostname of the remote desktop users are different.

...the hostname of the remote desktop users are different.

When you're logged into a Terminal Server session the host name is the server name. Each user has a different session ID but the the server name is the host name.

Have you checked that the server is currently running in "execute" mode? You can check this my typing "change user /query" at a cmd prompt. I usually change back to execute mode as soon as the application is installed and then reboot the server.

Failing the above, I would check with Sage and make sure that the version of MAS 90 that you're running is compatible with Terminal Services 2003. Aside from QuickBooks 2004 and later not running on Terminal Services I've had increasing issues with getting the later versions of Sage Simply Accounting installed. I used to be able to install SA and it would work out of the box, now it seems that there are more issues with each version or upgrade.

Cheers.
