Hi everyone,
I'm relatively green to the IT field, I've only been in it for 4 years, and just recently obtained my first Network Admin. position with a small community bank.

At my current position I have the opportunity to experiment and learn new skills. I was wondering if those more seasoned in IT can give me some insight into those skills that are marketable. By that I mean what software packages, systems, etc. should I try and get some experience with in to allow for future growth (both career and financial-wise).

I know Exchange and SQL are in pretty high demand, any other insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg

The best thing you can do is learn the soft skills and become an effective communicator.

Learning software packages is a waste of time for furthering your career because they all become obsolete. Sure, you may need to learn one for your current job, but for career progression it is a waste of time.

An education is the best thing you can do for your career.
