mapping variables and parameters

Hi All,

I need some help with some information on mapping variables and parameters.

I have read the manuals and I know theoretically what it means.

But could you give me an example of where I would use it best.

And where do I store the parameter file? Is it in the Informatica Server?

I haven't used both of these until now.
