How do I map a server's D,E or F drive on my Windows 2000 Professional workstation. I've forgotten the syntac!

I know I have to type something like $d\\

From a command prompt - its net use command (just type net use /? for syntax or net help use for extended syntax help). You'll need the sharename(s) of the folder/drive(s) on the server to be able to map it/them,

eg net use F: \\servername\sharename

I've tried that without any luck. On the server the hard drive has been partitioned into C and D drives. I'm trying to map a share on the partitioned D Drive

infostud,
on the workstation, right click my computer, click mape drive, in the blank space type \\servername\drive letter$
if you wna it to map everytime that you logon check that box.

hope this helps

You'll need Administrator level access on the server for hellphikneaux's suggestion to work - and its not really good practice to map the administrative shares. If you should have access to this drive, the domain administrator should have set up a sharename for the D: drive for you to use. If this is just your own private network, take hellphikneaux's suggestion.
