Mapping images, files, etc.

I downloaded an entire website to my local drive so that I can make changes without disturbing the main site. I am having problems with mapping the links and images. Whenever I use a relative path /images/myImage.gif, my local version (

http://localhost:8500/...)

of the site cannot find the image despite it being in the directory. When I use the original url in the links (i.e.

http://www.realSite.com/),

the links work fine (unfortunately, they also take me back to the main site), which is ok for the images, but not so much for the links. I tried the mapping option in the CFMX administrator, but it is not happening. How do I make local:8500 become a substitute for

http://www.realSite.com?

Anyone have any suggestions?
