First of all, I want to tell all of you how helpful you've been to me in the past. I've always been able to come here and find every answer by reading through the archives. You all explain everything so thorougly.

I'm importing Excel spreadsheets into ACT. I'm having a problem with some of the spreadsheets because first name and last name are in separate columns in the Excel spreadsheet and in ACT it's one field (Contact).

When I try to import and map the fields, I can only put either first or last name in the Contact field of ACT. I'm also having this problem w/ phone numbers. Some of my Excel spreadsheets have a separate column for area code. My ACT field only has one field for phone number.

Do you know how I can combing the fields in Excel before I import to ACT, or a way of mapping correctly while importing?

Thank you so much,
Monique

ACT should support the mapping of First and Last names (at least mine does :)) Does first/last name show up on the drop-down on the mapping screen? During the import, ACT then combines them to make the Contact field.

However, that doesn't solve the phone number problem. To combine fields in excel, use the concatenate formula (or use &) Like:
A B C
FIRST LAST =A1&" "&B1
John Smith John Smith

AREACODE PHONE =A1&"-"&B1
213 555-1234 213-555-1234

Thank you. I'll try doing this and see if it works. I really appreciate it!
