Have been logging on through RAS via a modem, but recently get the message for the mapped drive.......

"The following error occured while trying to connect D:to //server/sharename

Windows cannto find the computer or share name. Make sure the computer and sharename is correct.........."

The event log show that the user successfully logs on the the server, just can't seem to resolve the sharename/server name.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Robert

Ali,

Sorry, only my post was incorrect. (Been working on Unix most of the day.) The mapping was working up until yesterday. There has been no configuration changes that I am aware of since it started showing this error. We only have 2 users that log in from remote modems and both now have lost the capability to map a drive to a share. (working both OS's, my // and \\ are always a constant typo.) I also rebooted the server this morning.

Thanks

what happens if you use the IP address of the machine instead of the name

\\ip_address\share ---------------------------------------------------------------------
I have not failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work
