Mapped Printers Failing

We have just started to see some very odd printing issues at our site and I wondered if anyone had experienced them before. We use a GPO to deploy the printers from a print server onto the clients.

This works fine and in Printers and Faxes we see the mapped printers. In some (but not all) software the printers list appears but some and not pre-fixed with the \\servername and cannot be used. It seems limited to Outlook and PDF Viewer.

We've forced a GPUPDATE and restarted to no avail. It isn't always the same printers and some devices don't have the issue at all.

have you applied the following HotFix?
