We have Windows Server 2008 R2 set up at one of the clinics. A hard drive is shared with full access to the users. Windows XP Home and Windows 7 machines access the drive through a shared drive letter (NET USE F: \\SERVER\F). The speed of which the files are accessed are quite slow. I have a Windows machine here on a network which houses shared folders and the access is much faster. Both are on a 1 Gigabit network.
What are some things I can set on either the clients or server that will improve the speed. The read speed really is noticeably slow on the Win2008 R2 Server.
