Hi,

What exactly does a MAPD card actually do ??

Also, in Avaya when I do the command " disp node-names ip " there is no sign or mention of MAPD in here

And the Mapd does have an IP address on our normal data network

any ideas ??

hurling,

map-d board serves as a cti gateway between internal packet bus and lan. basicly, it's a pc made as tn-factor board, with tdm connection on one side and lan socket on the other. it runs unixware and hosts one or two applications: either dlg or cvlan or both. these are used by different cti applications to get an interface into system guts.
since it's a pc, it is managed separately and you can't set its ip address on node-names ip screen. to set or change ip address you have to connect to its console port via serial cable and get access to the local terminal. if you know its ip address already, you can telnet on it.
