Need to replace drive 0 on a Rel 5 VM, Avaya does not have a replacement, I do have one coming from a used equipment dealer. If there is data on this drive do I need to clean it off first or does the rebuild format the drive..?

I cannot find any maintenance documentation on Avaya's website for Rel 5, when I look it tells me there are no documents for that release, I know there out there somewhere just can' find them.

I have a copy of the Intuity R5 documentation from the CD-ROM on my laptop, but I'm not sure how the best way to get it to you. It does reference some maintenance procedures, so it may be what you are looking for, I don't know. I don't have any direct experience with replacing a drive, but I believe if you have a good backup, and the original software floppy disc(s), it should rewrite what it needs when you reload the information. Let me know if I can help.

Why does the light always have to be at the end of the tunnel?

you would need to have a clean drive so that the MAP/100P can rebuild that RAID5 stripe. i don't believe that it formats the drive when inserted but i could be wrong.

as far as documentation, there was a CD that was included with every MAP5/40/100 installed system that was labeled '(Blah Blah Blah) Documentation for Technicians'.
