Hi all,

It seems that with Access 2000 all of those activeX controls (other than the ones in Microsoft Forms 2.0) that are distributed with the package don't have any (well, almost none) documentation to go with. Not in Access help, nor at the MS web site, nor in the MSDN library circa July 2000.

I've been able to piece together some useful info on the treeView control. A handy control indeed! This lead me to wonder about the other activeX goodies on my computer I have no idea how to use.

Can any one point me to either a good book or, even better, a good web site that describes these items for the clueless newbie?

thanks

Sorry I can't help but....(Do you have the developer edition of Office?? You get more advanced help files with that (which I have only ever managed to run outside Office (not with F1).

My only adviced however (I think Microsofts manuals are terrible) is to look for a non microsoft book on the subject).

Thanks Kirk:

No, I have the "Professional Edition", which is the most the college will give us (the cheapskates). Problem #1.

I agree that the MS manuals, both on & off-line, are of inferior quality. Problem #2.

I'll look into the bookstore option but was hoping to avoid the $30-$50+ outlay for a reference that may only wind up being exploratory in nature. Yea, I can be a cheapskate too.

Don't you find it odd that MS would distribute potentially helpful (cyber)-machines w/o documentation? I'd think that they'd crow about these things. "Look at what we can give you! Look at how advanced we are!" This is just plain bad marketing. I doesn't matter how good the tools are if you keep people in the dark about them they might as well not exist.

Sorry about the rant, the fiscal year roll-over timed to coincide with half of our grants running out is making me a bit cranky.
