I started with a site on a Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition, SQL Server 2008 Standard, and SharePoint 2007 Enterprise edition system. When I map the site via network drive onto my computer and opened up the various folders in the attachments folder of a list, I do not have any errors. I map the network drive to sync the folders and attachments to my local computer.

When I moved that site to my new system - Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition, SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard, and SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition - I started getting errors in the folders. When I map the network drive on my computer to the same location (Lists / Attachments) and try to open up some of the folders to see the attachment, I get the following error -

Location is not available
Z:\Lists\Specs\Attachments\1270 is not accessible.
The parameter is incorrect.

This does not happen to every folder in the Attachments folder. Just a fair amount of them. This also does not happen to any other list folder attachments, so it is just specific to this folder. I can view and open the attachments without any issues in SharePoint, so it isn't an issue within SharePoint.

I am mapping the network drive through my Windows 7 box, and I have also tried it on a Windows XP box. Both have the same errors. Any ideas on why this is happening and what I need to do to fix it? Thanks in advance.

did you re-map the shortcut / drive to the url of your new system?

try opening the list on your new system.
copy the url.
then create a new mapped drive using that url.

maybe try checking what url is returned when you open a Document Library in Explorer View.

*i just tried this on my 2007 and 2010 sharepoint sites, no issues.*

i used the following url to created a mapped drive:

open the mapped drive, the address in the windows address bar now shows:
Computer > Lists(\\sharepoint.net\Dav (drive letter:)
