Newbie question, please be gentle. Using Harbinger Trustedlink for Windows, version 5.20.

I have used STMAP to create new maps for my company. It works okay with new trading partners. What is frustrating to us is we can't change the old maps provided by Perigrine/Harbinger. All we have are the .MAP files, nothing else.

The old maps are quite good, but there are various little tweaks we would like to apply, to eliminate the need for manipulating the files before or after the map process. Our management can't justify spending the time to go back and rewrite the entire map just to fix a little nuisance.

Has anyone had any luck with converting a regular text MAP file into all the files that are needed to modify the map? I'm not sure if its a reverse engineering thing or what? I just figured someone must have done this, since the support from the company has been so poor for so long.

Thanks for any help.

STMap used the PaperFree (now Sybase) mapping engine. If you know someone who has the PaperFree tool (Now ECMap) they may be able to help you. ECMap creates .map files which are your compiled map.
