Many Port Numbers showing for certain users

I have a number of Lotus Notes 6.5.3 users on Windows XP Pro and when looking via the Domino Administrator under Status - Notes Users, I see many port numbers for such users. For example a user has ports 1472 to 1566 going up in increments of 2 i.e. 1499, 1501, 1503 etc.
Why are such ports being opened. I am not experiencing this with R5.0.11 clients on Windows NT 4. Could this be due to Windows XP Pro?
Your help would be much appreciated.
TIA
Pierre

P.S. Our Domino Mail server is ver 6.5.3 running on W2K3 server

We are having the exact same issue with our main mail server. Domino 6.5.1, W2K server. Some users end up having dozens of these ghost sessions hanging out there that don't have anything attached to them apparently. I have been going back and forth with IBM for about a month now with no luck. I even created a totally brand new server, copied only the mail databases over to it and it's still happening. We originally were at 6.0.2, now at 6.5.1. I ran all compact/fixup/updall, etc on the databases because they were thinking it might be corruption causing it, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Someone has pointed the finger at Windows XP Pro because I've seen it happening on Windows XP Pro workstations but maybe I could be wrong. Very weird problem
