I am looking for some fundamental ideas or guidance on how to structure what I am trying to do. . .I am trying to structure a "programs search" many-many-many-many...based on "characteristics" of from 1 to 20 or more. In other words 20 factorial. If you were doing it, how would you approach the design of it?
Any recommendations or ideas would be deeply appreciated.

Give us an example. You know -- "I'm looking for [messages, files, whatever], smaller than 10k, containing the words 'puce', 'pumpkin' and 'zebra' but with no letter 'x'."

Off-hand, I'd think you could create a class to do the heavy lifing for you, but it depends. -- Dave

You could investigate the filer.dll that comes with VFP, but I do not know if the code is included...it does for many other nice utils in VFP, so maybe...

They cling emotionally to code and fix development rather than choosing practices based on analytical assesments of what works best.
