Hi,
I have an office that has two ISP's, T1 and DSL. I have been confused on how to set up the network for the the managers and for the sales agents.
Here is what i have. the T1 handles all the Voip stuff and some minimal internet usage for the sales reps. the reps have one ethernet line going to their desk that provides data/voice through that one line since the phone has a lan port and a cpu port.
Since the reps need to have the phones work properly, i have a QOS router that helps limit the internet and prioritizes the phone packet ports.
THe managers i have a DSL line that i just want them to have access to. I want them to be able to have unrestricted and full use of the internet without throttling via DSL. BUT...i also need them to have access to the servers on both ISP networks. There are phone servers and dev boxes that we would need access to that the sales reps would need access to as well...
I know this can be accomplished with an A/B ehternet switch but how archaic is that? i am sure there is a more elegant solution.
this is not load balancing, but more like a way for the manager to "manually switch" between lans from their PC or Mac.
My concern is that i do not want the reps to go have access to the DSL internet and have to go through the QOS router for access, and i want the managers to have access to both networks whenever they need to. I know that i will have to run two ethernet lines to the managers offices since the phones will be on one LAN the entire time, but their NIC should "switch" if they want...
Does anyone have a solution for this?
