I have a computer that is in need of a hotfix, stemming from a problem on my computer which the MS KB says the hotfix should take care of it. My WSUS server downloaded the update but determined my pc did not need it and it did not install on the pc.

How would I be able to get that hotfix from my WSUS server onto my pc, despite the fact my WSUS server says I do not need it? I was looking at the WSUScontent for the hotfix but there are just to many and the names do not correspond with the hotfix number.

How do I go about searching for the hotfix on the WSUS server? I would like to just manually find the hotfix and copy it to the laptop which needs it, then running the hotfix from the laptop.

Thanks

Hot fixes are stored in the Registry under KB#s
"HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\HotFix"

WSUS may be finding that key which is why it states you don't need it. You could back the key up(export it), delete it, and then trying the update again.
