Hello, I am users from Networker and I want to know why in the clon process the original save sets might require two volumes, while the cloned save sets require only one volume.

thanks..

Depends on how many tapes were used to backup your saveset. Some savesets may have been continued on to a second volume or striped over several tapes. The cloning process copies the savessets from multiple volumes and merges them onto onto one or more clone tapes..

For example:-

A file system is backed up and uses three tapes from the Backup pool

Ssid Tape
123456 abc123
643216 abc123
7890123 abc124
654321 abc125

The ssids to be cloned are 123456, 7890123 and 654321. The cloning process will copy these ssids as follows:-

Ssid Tape
123456 clone01
7890123 clone01
654321 clone01

Hope this helps
