_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.mydomain.com into my W2K DNS server?

Please advice.

Thanks

Hi, check my last comment in
_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.mydomain.com is a SRV entry that your AD needs to write in the DNS server for mydomain.com. It says to clients in your domain where to locate LDAP servers for mydomain.com ( => normally on the AD server..)

It is not advised to add it manually. Instead, activate Dynamic DNS (DDNS) on your DNS servers if it's safe and your AD will do the writing by itself

You should only have to do this if your DNS server is not running on windows (i.e. Unix). If you DNS server is running on windows and is dynamic, then these entries should have already been made.

Start, Help. You'll be surprised what's there. A+/MCP/MCSE/MCDBA
