After upgrading from 5.0.0 to 5.0.5 I had problems running one of our applications due to an issue with the 'locale' setting.

I edited the /etc/default/lang file, commenting out all lines except

LANG=C_C.C

Since doing this I cannot get the man command to work.

For example, typing
#man ps

Gets me the response -
#man: ps not found

This happens any time that man command is used. The scohelp HTML pages are not accessible either.

I've tried uncommenting LANG=english_uk.8859 but it doesn't fix the problem. Restoring any other parameters (e.g. LANG=en_GB.ISO8859-1) causes the locale errors to appear in the app again.

While I can't be 100% certain that this is the cause I know that the correct locale setting is needed for scohelp to locate the HTML documents so I'm assuming that it is related.

I'd appreciate any advice on how to get this back into operation.

Cheers

Craig Shepherd
