I reverse-engineered a SQL server database,
using "Database, Reverse Engineer".

How can I edit the shapes? When I try to ungroup, the
message says "Shape protection and/or layer properties
prevent complete execution of this command"

I have Visio Professional 2003 on Win XP.

Hi Alan
I had exactly the same prob when trying to edit an Oracle database diagram.
Go to Tools => Options, click on the Advanced tab and check "Run in developer mode". Click OK.
Now go to your drawing, right click on the shape you wish to edit and select "Show Shapesheet" from the pop-up menu.
There is a section in the Shapesheet called "Protection". In here, if there are any values set to 1, change them to 0. This should allow you to change the shape size, etc. There may also be some other settings in the Shapesheet you have to play around with to make it do exactly what you want.

One problem I still have is that I can't seem to edit the text in any way of the objects representing the tables. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks very much
