Hi all, Linux newbie here, so thanks in advance for the help.
I downloaded and am playing with Mandrake 8.0. Internet access was going fine until @home told me to knock off the use of a static IP (upgrades in October will deny access to static IPs).
Anyway, I couldn't get the interfaces to work with DHCP directly until I installed a package on the installation CD's called "dhcpxd". So far everything works great, and I can connect again to the Internet. Really easy to set up, in basic form.
Since this was issued via command line (and I'm only just starting to learn it all), I'd like to make sure I'm not missing anything.
So far I have "dhcpxd -c -H <myhostname> eth0". "-c" is "checkip" and "-H" is your @home hostname.
Should that do it? Will it load into the startup files by itself? What other switches might I need? Any other suggestions on how to maintain my DHCP with @home?
Thanks! J.R. Juiliano
