I am brand new to the world of Linux. Could experienced members indicate the pros and cons of Mandrake 9.1 compared with other distributions? Many Thanks. Larry
Great for a Workstation, but we prefer RedHat 9.0 for a server implementation.
Personally no real complaints with Mandrake as a distro, you could do a lot worse. Which may get to you is the sheer amount of extras which comes with Mandrake 9.1, enough to confuse a newby initially.
It's very similar to RedHat, so have no fears of alienating yourself. About the only diff is the preferred choice of GUI, RH seems to prefer Gnome, Mandrake leans towards KDE. But both are included in both distros, plus a plentora of others.
