Does Mandrake 9.1 have drivers for SMC 8416 PnP ISA NIC? I have just installed it on an older machine - picked an SMC network driver from list (8416 not there) to configure NIC. Appeared to configure correctly - but when booting for first time it hung after allocating IP addresses (169.x.x.x).
This is my first attempt for a while to install a version of Linux (because I've never had a complete success - always issue with at least one piece of hardware - I've NEVER had any sound! The machine has an Opti 930 ISA soundcard - sort of half Pnp, so no chance there I suspect). Previously I've spent hours searching the Net for Linux drivers & even worse, instructions to install them (wasn't a member of Tek Tips last time I tried this).
PS. Reinstalled without configuring the NIC - have got to a desktop! But it would be nice to connect to my network!
Thanks for any help.
