Mandrake 8.1 install problem. Help!

Hello!

I have a problem installing Mandrake linux 8.1. I get an error message: test_for_bad_drives: can't even read (input /output error).

That error message occurs at the 'setup file system' stage.

I should say that the PC works fine, Windows installs on it without any problem and the SAME software installs on my other PC just fine.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Not sure if this is the case but there is a known problem with that error message installing on Sony vaio notebooks with memorystick sockets but no memorystick. There is a downloadable boot disk fix. See -->
