Hello all,

About a year ago I bought an imac G5, that I suffered many a late night trying to force Fontbook to manage all the fonts I use... and then I posted my problem up on here and someone amazing forwarded me a pdf of 'how to manage fonts in OSX' document that detailed exactly how to overcome all these system/user hidden font conflicts that just cause things to freak out.

I think it may have been jm galvin, but I'm not sure - and now that I have just got myself a Macbook Pro, I am having the same problems... wanting to use suitcase to manage my fonts, but experiencing some weirdness in various programs which I am sure is down to some font-conflicts going on somewhere.

If anyone can help, I'd be most grateful.

Cheers,
anna

I still have that pdf. It's 6 pages.

If you want it post yur email here BUT type it like: "joe at xyz". Don't use the ampersand for the "at" and don't put the extension. Then, in next line of message put "extension for mail address is ".com" or whatever it is.

That prevents spammers from harvesting the address and does not attract them to tek tips.

Can't you put the text into an FAQ and let us all see? Or FAQ link to the PDF on a web server?

Another option if you really have to use email is for JMG to get the email addy then red flag the response for site management to remove the post.

Foamcow: this thing is a pretty thorough explanation of fonts in osx, like which ones are absolutely necessary, where fonts can be stored, explanation of font caches, etc. It a good learning tool.
