Hi,
We are a school and we're looking for a solution to some of our IT administrative headaches.
Firstly, every year, we have new pupils that start, so those "bulk" accounts need to be created. Usuallly the process goes as follows:
The pupils' names are entered into the school's MIS system and once that is (almost) final, we get a list which we hack to pieces in excel and finally get it into a format where it can be used with dsadd, dsmod, xcacls, etc.
Fortunately I have found a software application called ADmanager (by ManageEngine). Although I haven't fully looked at it, it looks good.... any other recommendations are welcome.
Then, further to this problem, we are in the process of setting up Sharepoint and are looking at more granular security & distribution groups for use in the AD, so for example, we have groups for all pupils, all staff, but would like that to extend further to year groups, ie. year 03, 04, 05, etc. then by girls in certain years taking certain subjects. But as the girls progress through school, obviously their year changes and form groups change and subject changes, etc. How do we best manage this dynamic and evolving group structure?
Cheers
