6.7.1 Win 2k 4 proc (2 physical hyperthreaded)

We've been expeiencing some strange things with managment console lately. The management console would display the CPU usuage at 100%, however task manager shows it at only 30%. I've made sure to set the taskmanger to show all processes from all CPU's, so it is accurate.

After a re-boot, this problem would go away. However, once a week, it comes back.

Any ideas?

Don't rely on MC for OS information. It could be the update rate is too slow. This part doesn't work on UNIX anyway.
Better to use Task Manager or Windows Perf mon tools.

I'd love to relay that message to management, but they won't buy it. :) They like it when things are working.

Is this a known problem? Is there a patch? Perhaps I should contact support.

I use multiple event server on win2K at 6.7.1.
I have found that it reports CPU usage correctly but all services in the management console pick up the CPU usage of the first loaded event server.
I always rely on task manager though.

Can't rely on MC for OS information. If OS is too busy, MC can't get the info. Update settings also impact what you see, If your refresh rate is every 5 seconds, and you have a map that uses 100% of the CPU for 3 seconds, you don't see it.

Use the right tool for the job. If you want to monitor Windows, use a dedicated monitoring tool.

So why include it in the management console?
