I am distributing software across my network by assigning it through active directory. Recently, certain elements of software are opening, but then an error message that the software has not been setup for the User comes up, and I am asked to run setup from the program menu.
This is not happening on every machine, and rebooting the client sorts out the problem straight away. I have checked the User profiles, and these seem to be fine. I have even tried redeploying the application, setting up another script in Active Directory and just distributing the software to the affected machines but to no avail. The event log states the Group Policy extension software installation failed to start. I would be eternally grateful if anyone could shed a bit of light on why this is happening and a solution to rectify it as I am slowly but surely losing hair and sleep over it.
