Talking about patch cables.. my boss likes to use preboxed cables but its impossible to get the correct length without a lot of slack.

Just wondering if you guys mostly make custom cables for closets or just buy a whole bunch of different lenghts of cables to cover the different distances.

I'm trying to pull all the patch cables down the right side of the front of the patch pannel.. because the drops come down the left on the back.

Just looking for what you guys do. I'm trying to make my closets look as clean as possible.

Thanks!

When I order mine I get 3', 5', 7' and sometimes 10'.
Nothing clutters patch managment than cords way long (10' used for a 2' run) or people not running cable in management.

I understand the negatives with making it yourself.. but if you test them.. and they are the perfect size... I dont understand what the argument is.. (besides labor)

If your confident in your cable making abilities I saw go for it. It would look very neat if you made the cables yourself. Make sure you invest in at least a basic cable tester.

I make mine own from time to time, and have had no issues. I test them with an Ideal VDV Multimedia tester.

the problem with making cables your self. is that they will work for a while and then crap out. i have seen it a hundred times.
