manage Windows startup with SMS

Is it possible to manage Windows startup with SMS? We have Office Communicator 2007 that starts up automatically.
I am looking for a way/tool that would help me remove communicator from windows\currentversion\run for roughly 400 PCs

If you created a .reg file, changing the key you want changed that could easily be run by sms.

You could also make a package that would do that by using SMS installer.

Thank you very much for replying. I am not sure how to create SMS package to modify the registry. Will you please advise?

Well the simple way would be.

Launch Regedit (Start, Run, Regedit)
Navigate to the area of the registry you are interested in.
Make the changes you need.
Select File (menu), Export and save as .reg file.


After you create the xxx.reg file, Place it in a source dir then just put it in the command line of the new sms package. It will be small so when you set up the advert copy it to the cache.

The problem you can have is if it was in a hklu key...those kinda suck

You can remove this software via a script in Group Policy.
