Does anyone know how to convert man pages to html?

I thought there would be something on CPAN (The Perl module archive) but there isn't.

If you send me a man page I'll write one if you like, can't believe no one's done it before.

Make a file like this [tt]man ls > ls.man[/tt] and then send me that file (email address below)

I really appreciate the offer, believe me I do, but there are literally thousands of man pages on our system. I can write the HTML easily, but I'm desperate to find a way to automate this process via a translator or something.

Are you saying you could create something like that?

Any information would be immensely appreciated!

Kevin

How AIX does to show the same files tru [tt]man[/tt] and tru the HttpLite Help pages web server?

Mike, I'll talk to the guy running this project and see what he wants to do. I'm a web guy, not a UNIX or Perl guy. I've written a little Perl, but nothing this extensive.

Elgis, I'm not sure I understand your question. Perhaps it's because, like I said, I'm not really a UNIX guy. Do me a favor and dumb it down for me and maybe I can get you an answer.

You know, you would think something like this would have been done before.

"you would think something like this would have been done before"

That's what elgis meant -- there's something (in AiX at least) that appears to do what you need, translate man page entries to html.

I'm not familiar with it though elgis -- you got any pointers?

Is exactly what I`m trying to say: When I install the man pages in AIX, I can use [tt]man something[/tt] AND view these using Netscape, then the solution must be somewhere, but I don`t know where!

Anybody knows AIX around here? I only use AIX and BeOS in my business, then I can`t answer for a generic Unix.

Sorry

Hello,

You know. Usually when you get the distribution kit for Tru64 Unix, yoiu get a cd with the entire manuals in html!.

I only needed to copy mine to my personal http server and voala! My personal reference website!

And the files are not that big. Remember there are not as many grafics!

Let me know if you are interested on the Tru64 pages!

L8ter! Life is good!, live it?

I appreciate it, but we're making our own pages. These are spacific to our company. Kevin
