After a drive failure last week, and a lone-tar restore that didn't work, (probably my fault) I had to re-install openserver. Now the man pages aren't working. I get these messages if I type "man mail" for instance:

man : can't connect to scohttp
man: mail not found

I didn't do the re-install, so I'm not sure if sco http is even on the system. It doesn't start at boot.

Any ideas?

Right now this is SCO 5.05. I need to re migrate to 5.06 also.

You can try running "scohttp start" or "scohttp enable". I've seen where this service gets broken when SCO tries to fix all the symbolic links automatically.
I'm sure it's possible that the service wasn't installed in the first place, but a default install should have included the MAN pages.

Entering scohttp start returns "Scohttp is already running"

Check the installed components with custom

Hope This Helps, PH.

Thanks for the input. I tried scohttp stop and start but that didn't work. I had to reboot the sever for another issue (installed a KVM switch) and now the man pages work.

Go figure, a windows fix (rebooting) fixed a unix problem for once.

coincidence.....and probably unecessary. you didn't say what the responses were to the scohttp stop and scohttp start commands.

I first ran the scohttp start and it returned the message that it was already running.

I had reboot the system to install a kvm switch prior to seeing your message to start and stop scohttp.
