Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has experience in activating MCT on an option 11.

Specifically, I would like to be able to extend the MCT functionality to record the *actual voice* when the TRC button is hit, eg: receptionist receives malicious call, hits TRC on attendant console, conversation recorded onto something like a voicemail port ??

I have just begun digging around in "X11 Features and Services" manual, and it looks like it only supports printed output...

Has anyone else run into a similar situation ?? Any ideas on how this can be done other than using MCT ?

Thanks a lot,
Paul

PS - this is a UK based system....

the only way i have had any luck with that is a recorder that connects to the handset, the call trace is great to locate an internal caller but almost useless for external numbers. btw, check the local problems with recording calls. some places have heavy duty restrictions on usage of a tape unless both parties know the call is being recorded. this may not be a concern in the uk. a trace here is not turned over to the called party without a warrent. that is not a concern for in house callers..

I will find out tomorrow what it is, but there is a box made for that. Connects to a trunk and is set to activate when the MCT key is hit. It stops recording when the call is ended. It is expensive but works perfectly.

look at enhanced 911, that is the box you might be thinking of, draw back, one per trunk and analog trunks only.. unless it's an outside call and you can talk the perv into dialing in on just one trunk, might get very expensive. the station side recorder sells for 35 bucks (american dollars) or 27 cents euro (Ha).. i did a 911 center behind a 81 and it (the box) recorded all calls, the trace key, not only recorded the calls but did a no hold conf to the supv...

If you can justify the $$$, Telstrat IDVR does on demand as well as full time recording very well.

last time i worked with telstrat, it ran 1500 per trunk, but is a very clean system

Thanks for all the info guys - apparently the legal issues are covered, so I'm just "doin' what I been told"... ;)

The solution in the end is very low-tech. I have bought a device to connect between the attendant console and the headset, and the receptionist can just hits the record button and we can cleary hear the two way conversation on playback. Cost about $20 USD.

Another question: if caller-ID is blocked, is there any way (like using enhanced malicious call trace) you can get the TRC to forward you the blocked number ?

I know this sounds illogical, but here is a snippet from the "X11 Features and Services" manual which seems to indicate it may be possible:

<--snip-->
Malicious Call Trace on
Direct Inward Dialing

Feature description
This feature provides an enhancement to the Malicious Call Trace (MCT)
feature. If the MCT feature is activated by pressing the trace (TRC) key (on
a Meridian 1 proprietary telephone or Attendant Console), or by dialing the
SPRE and 83, a digit 1 is outpulsed to the trunk. This is an indication to the
Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to activate its own MCT
feature.
<--snip-->

Has anyone had experience setting something like this up before ?? Do you have to speak with the owners of the PSTN to get this working ??

Thanks again for any advice available out there!!!

Cheers,
Paul
