Hi, right now I'm making my own custom Windows Start-up screen, but I have a quick question:

when you make the picture, it must first be saved as a .bmp, but the .bmp must be in 256 color only.

so is it possible to set up Photoshop to make a new canvas that is 256 color .bmp?????

Thanks
Nate

Oh, forgot to mention one thing, I usually make the pic in photshop, then save as a bmp, then open it in MS Paint, then save as 256 color bmp, that is how I get it to work.

Can you save as a 256 color bmp in photoshop

yeah, you can do that.
all you do is go into Image > Mode > index color...
and set the index color to 256 colors. Now go to save it as a BMP. in your save options you should see 8bit color mode check. hope that helps!
