Hello everyone,

I have a two hard drive system. I have Win 98 on my master harddrive and Win2000 pro on my slave. I switch between them using the BIOS screen at start-up. I know it's a bit clunky but it works. The problem is that Win 98 sees the second hard drive as a CDrom in explorer. Even when you right-click the drive and look at its properties win98 thinks its a CDrom. I think the problem may be due to Win 98 not being able to read the NTFS file system on the Win2000 hard drive. The questions are :-

1. How can I get Win 98 to see the second hard drive as a hard drive.

2. If I cant do this I want to remove the second hard drive. When I tried this by disconnecting the IDE cable and power to it, the computer still seems to be looking for the second hard drive. Is there a BIOS setting I need to change ?

Help me coneheads !!

Dave

Try switching HD's make the HD w/ W2k master, and the HD w/ W98 a slave. See if you still have the same problem.
Or I would try another IDE cable.

If you re-format your W98 partition with FAT you will be able to read the NTFS partitions, Although your FAT partion sizes can't be over 2GB,(I'm pretty sure it's 2GB).

I will suggest that you go to the BIOS setup and then change the booting process so that it should boot from win98.Also if it doesn't work try to change the jumper. Also check whether you forgot win98 in your CD-ROM
